Dress Code

Students must wear shoes that are comfortable to dance in (NO crocs or flip flops) and pants that allow movement (no tight jeans or super short shorts).

FOR ADV DANCE: dance shoes and appropriate dance wear required

Covid Protocol

If your child feels sick in any capacity or has been exposed to Covid, please text me with a heads up and keep them at home!! Students will be required to wear a mask as long as NHCS schools mandate them.  We will be able to spread out due to the size of the space.

REGISTRATION IS THROUGH OPERA HOUSE THEATRE COMPANY. 

You will be re-directed to their website for registration.

BROADWAY BABIES

Sing, dance, and act your hearts out.  Every class will begin with imagination and improv theatre games to get the creative juices flowing, learn how to work as an ensemble, and cultivate confidence. Students will learn numbers from Broadway shows or movie musicals and perform them for friends and family throughout the semester. With the Opera House costume and prop shop at our disposal, the opportunities are endless!

SUPERSTARS

Let’s get into movie musicals! We play theatre games, sing and dance to get the creative juices flowing, and learn how to work as an ensemble, and as well as make good use of Opera House’s costume and prop shop!  Students will learn new numbers over the course of 12 weeks and perform them for you, all while making new friends and being challenged to learn new skills each week.

THEATRE 101

Learn about the magical world of theatre while making new friends and exploring each student’s hidden creative genius!  In this class, we’ll pull from everyone’s strengths to make magic, while playing theatre games, doing improvisation work along with some singing and dancing, working on characters, and taking full advantage of Opera House’s mine field of props and costumes.  This class will have something for everyone!

BEHIND THE SCENES

Learn the tricks of the trade and go backstage with the best of the best. Four weeks of learning how to design and sew costumes with Debbie Schue.  Four weeks of learning how to design and build sets & props with Terry Collins.  Three weeks of stage make-up with Mike Thompson and one week of “fun with props”.  This hands-on experience offers wonderful trade skills and is chock-full of all things behind the scenes!  We are so excited to offer this unique opportunity!

SPOTLIGHT

Improvisation games? Done. Singing? Yep! Acting? Why not? Dancing? For sure! We got it all covered - plus loads of props and costumes AND special guest teachers. For those kids who like to have some good fun, make new friends, build confidence, and learn a whole lot.  We’ll do songs from movies and musicals, AND perform them for parents. Semester ends with a Big Bang.. but that is a surprise for later!  Don’t miss this one!

For the more serious performer who wants to be on stage. We will focus on different styles of theatre dance, and incorporate singing, acting, and scene work. Will include guests teachers and specialities throughout. Performances for parents and a showcase at the end!

ACTING FUNDAMENTALS

Students will develop and polish acting skills while working on character development, script analysis, improv, and scene study! Create believable characters for the stage and screen to feel confident, live in the moment, and deliver honest responses during auditions and performances. Great compliment to the SPOTLIGHT class!! All levels.
